Healthcare Professionals

Welcome to the Reading Hip & Knee Unit. Our aim is to give all patients the highest quality care we can throughout their clinical journey, from their initial assessment and treatment plan, through rehabilitation to longer term outcome and follow up.

The ethos of the Reading Hip & Knee Unit is to provide patients, referring GPs and physiotherapists, detailed information about the hip and knee problems we treat and the various ways they can be managed through good communication and sound education.

Referrals

We welcome referrals by letter or fax. Please find our contact details here.

For physiotherapists who wish to directly refer patients: please ensure all patients check the terms and conditions of any insurance policy they have before arranging a consultation.

Education

We would be very happy to come to talk to you, your colleagues or your practice team on any aspects of hip or knee pathology and/or treatments you may wish. For further information please contact us.

If you are interested in coming to view live surgery, we would be happy to accommodate you. Please contact us to find out more.

‘Associated’ Physiotherapists

We are looking to establish firmer links with local physiotherapy practices. Potential benefits for association with the RHKU include:

  • Up-to-date information and education regarding advances in hip and knee surgical techniques
  • The (joint) development of rehabilitation protocols
  • Becoming a recommended local practice
  • Linkage to the Reading Hip & Knee Unit website

For details about linking websites or any questions about the above please contact us.

Patient Information Leaflets

I am delighted with the result of the operation, my knee is more comfortable than it has been for several years. I am most grateful to Mr Dodds for his courtesy, his great skill and for the care provided by his anaesthetist and nursing team.
